about us
OUR STORYiPerform Theatre Company started with an idea, a backyard, and two soon-to-be eighth graders. During the summer of 2009, Molly had helped out with a skit based on Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham with a couple of neighborhood kids. The following year, Molly was approached by a neighborhood parent wondering if she and a friend would help out with something like that again. After discussing the idea with Cristina, the two decided to put the idea into action. Cristina had participated in theatre all of her life and Molly had extensive experience with childcare; they were the perfect team.
Cristina and Molly organized a rehearsal schedule, a script, and everything in between. They rehearsed in Cristina’s backyard with ten neighborhood children on weekday nights for about a month, and ended with a final performance at their local elementary school. After successfully doing this for two years, Cristina and Molly wanted to expand and become a small business. They partnered with Saint Paul Parks and Recreation to offer their play as a summer camp and charged admission for both the camp and the performance. They got local businesses to sponsor their shows, and made sure that each actor in our camp got a $10 stipend for their hard work on the play. Their business was now registered as iPerform Theatre Company L.L.P., and they kept expanding as the years went on. iPerform currently offers two different summer theatre camps, all operating through Saint Paul Parks and Recreation. iPerform specifically works within North Dale Recreation Center and Northwest Como Recreation Center in the Como Park area of Saint Paul. |
